3 metro Atlanta Kohl's stores to close

ATLANTA — Three metro Atlanta Kohl’s stores are among the 18 nationwide that will close as part of a move to cut expenses.

Kohl's announced in February that it would close locations in seven states "as part of the company's ongoing efforts to find new and innovative ways to drive sales."

The Holcomb Bridge and Northlake Mall locations will be closed as of June 19. The Lithonia location will close Nov. 1.

The three closings could affect as many as 300 employees.

Kohl's says it employs between 80 and 100 people per store, and those who can't move to new locations will be given severence packages.

"I'm disappointed because I'm a big Kohl's fan," said Simone Melton. "I just dropped my mom and daughter off to do some shopping at Kohl's because they have great coupons and great customer service. I'm very disappointed."
