ATLANTA — A 15-year-old boy is in surgery after police say he was shot outside a southwest Atlanta apartment complex.

The shooting happened off Oakland Lane after 10 a.m. at the Oakland City West End Apartments near the Rev. James Orange Park.

A witness who lives the complex said she heard a gunshot and someone scream outside her door. When she came outside, she said she found a teenager shot.

Police said the 15-year-old was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is in critical condition.

Police said the teen was outside hanging with his friends when a white Kia sedan pulled up and asked him a question. An argument broke out and then someone started shooting from the Kia.
