ALPHARETTA, Ga — Police are investigating a head-on crash that left one person dead and three hurt.
It happened near the intersection of Mansell Road and the Old Alabama connector Tuesday night.
Investigators say a Honda Accord with three people inside and a small Toyota SUV collided on the two lane road.
Witnesses flooded the 911 call lines moments after the crash.
One vehicle's caught on fire. When officers and firefighters arrived, they doused the flames.
"I can confirm that one of the females occupying the Honda Accord is deceased," said Alpharetta police spokesperson George Gordon.
Investigators said the victim, 64-year-old Laurie Luckow, was pronounced dead at the scene. The others were taken to North Fulton Hospital with serious injuries.
"At this point we don't know why this crash happened, but the specialist will determine those contributing factors which led to this horrific incident," Gordon said.
The police department's traffic investigation team is working on what caused the accident and who's at fault.
