1 woman dead, another injured in Gwinnett shooting

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County police are searching for the suspect after a shooting left one person dead and another injured Sunday.

Channel 2 has learned that the deceased has been identified as Alicia Johnson, 53, of Lawrenceville. Her daughter, Dana Johnson, 31, was the one injured Sunday.

The 911 call came in just after 5 p.m. from a home on the 2000 block of Crystal Lake Drive in Lawrenceville. While the 911 call taker was questioning the caller, several additional shots were fired.

When officers arrived, they found one woman dead in the garage and another injured.

Neighbors said there was a birthday party at the house at the time of the shooting. They said they heard four shots.

"I heard a sound, like a gunshot, not like a small gun, but more like a shotgun or something. Then a pause, and then three more shots," neighbor Donny Nguyen said.

Police said there was an inflatable bounce house is the front yard, and they believe several children may have witnessed the shooting.

Police are still searching for the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Ohave Whitfield. Gwinnett Police believe he may be traveling to Louisiana and may pose an ongoing threat to he surviving victim and her family.

A felony murder warrant and aggravated assault warrants have been obtained for Whitfield's arrest. He was last seen driving a Teal/Green Volvo S80 GA Tag PRI4493. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
