Hwy. 78 Reopens After Gas Leak

SNELLVILLE, Ga. — Highway 78 in Gwinnett County was shut down Thursday morning due to a gas main break.

Tommy Rutledge with Gwinnett County Fire said authorities were called to the scene of a 2-inch gas main cut on Highway 78 and Rockdale Circle in Snellville just before 7:30 a.m. The intersection of Highway 78 and Rockdale Circle and Grayson Parkway were shut down for hours due to the leak.

Police had to divert traffic until just after 12:15 p.m.

An emergency crew from Atlanta Gas Light stopped the leak.

Two businesses, a CVS Pharmacy and a QuikTrip, were evacuated, but have since been reopened.

No injuries were reported.
