MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in Georgia are investigating a possible illegal dumping incident after what appeared to be human waste was discovered in a river near a public landing.

On Tuesday, Monroe County deputies were called to the area of Pope’s Ferry Landing after receiving a report of illegal dumping that may have involved a commercial porta potty waste recovery truck.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with the complainant, who said they noticed what appeared to be human waste in the river after arriving at the landing.
The complainant told deputies they did not see any vehicles or individuals in the area.

Investigators have not identified a suspect and are asking for the public’s help as they work to determine how the waste ended up in the river.
