45 UGA Football Student-Athletes Earn 3.0 or Better

ATHENS — Forty-five University of Georgia football student-athletes earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher for the recently completed spring semester.

The football program also posted a 2.76 team GPA for the semester and credit hours earned rose 14 percent from the previous spring, indicating that players are making significant progress toward their individual degree requirements.

"I'm really proud of our team and the way they performed this past semester," said UGA head coach Mark Richt. "The University of Georgia is one of the finest universities in the country and our players are working tirelessly to earn their degrees. We have averaged 25 graduates a year for the past five years and our graduation rates are increasing on a yearly basis. We also anticipate our APR (Academic Progress Rate) to be one of the highest in the country again this year."

The 45 includes one 4.0 by senior offensive lineman Kevin Perez of Miami, 15 with an average of 3.5-3.99 and 29 more with a GPA of 3.0-3.49.
