2 Suspected In CVS Armed Robbery, Chase

The incident began at a CVS pharmacy on Boulevard in southeast Atlanta, Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs told Channel 2's Darryn Moore. He said two men robbed the pharmacy, but they didn't get away with it.

When officers arrived, the two men were running out the door with guns in hand, Hobbs said. Police chased their car before the driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole near Glenwood Avenue, Hobbs said.

One of the men ran away, but police said they later caught him. The other man was trapped in the car. Firefighters removed him shortly after 7 a.m. He was taken to Grady Hospital for treatment.

Police identified the driver as 19-year-old Jeramy Pugh. The passenger was identified as 20-year-old Carrell Johnson.

More than 500 residents on Glenwood Road were left without power after the suspects crashed into the pole, Georgia Power officials said. They said the power outage would last until the pole is replaced, which should happen around noon. The road was shut down.
