Latin American Association offers Career Expo

The Latin American Association's Career Expo is Wednesday, June 22 at the Latin American association. Candidates must be bilingual, have at least 2 years of work experience, and be eligible to work in the United States. To register, send an email with your resume to careerexpo@thelaa.org

Atlanta Victim Assistance hosts awards

For more than 30 years, Atlanta Victim Assistance, Inc. has advocated for the rights of victims and witnesses of crime with compassion, dignity, and respect. Proceeds from this year's event will help to continue monthly Homicide Support Group meetings, publication of a quarterly newsletter, and to establish an emergency fund for families who are unprepared to make final arrangements for their loved ones. The organization will host the Barney l. Simms VIP awards  June 23 starting at 6:00p.m.

Georgia Tennis Hall of Fame

The Georgia Tennis Foundation Hall of Fame induction and awards dinner party is Monday, August 1 at 5 p.m. at the Twelve Hotel. The Georgia Tennis Hall of Fame 2016 Inductees include Branch Curington and Hugh Thomson.

Summer Camp helps blind children find independence

The BELL Camp, which stands for Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning, is for 4 to 12 year olds. It gets no government funding and relies solely on grants and private donations. Donations to the program can be made through the National Federation of the Blind of Georgia.

Women from war-torn countries find peace and opportunity

The community is invited to support the nonprofit Peace of Thread at a benefit concert Saturday June 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Decatur.

Historic church trying to raise money to fix sanctuary

The Vote your Park campaign runs through July 5, 2016. Two million dollars is up for grabs through a partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. You can vote every day, once a day online.
