FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons are days away from kicking off their 2026-27 season and the quarterback chosen to start the first game is injured.
Thursday afternoon, QB Tua Tagovailoa crumpled to the ground in pain during drills with the team as they prepare for their home opener Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The team said Tagovailoa is dealing with an injured oblique muscle but at this point, they have not said if or what impact that will have for Sunday’s game.
Backup QB Cooper Rush took over running plays with the starters during Thursday’s practice.
