COBB COUNTY, Ga — Charlie Morton signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him with the Atlanta Braves through the 2023 season, the team announced Friday.
The contract will pay Morton $20 million next season and will have a club option for $20 million in 2024.

Morton, 38, has been a steady arm for the team over the last two seasons, with a 23-12 record as a starter.

Morton was drafted by the Braves all the way back in 2002, and after spending his rookie season with the team in 2008. He returned to the organization in 2020, signing as a free agent.

As of Saturday afternoon, Morton and the Braves find themselves in a tie for first place in the National League East with the New York Mets.
