Courtney Taylor Clenney, 26, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County on Friday afternoon, according to online booking records. She was charged with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon in connection with the April 3 stabbing of Christian “Toby” Obumseli, 27, in Miami, the Miami Herald reported.

Clenney was being held without bail. She was arrested on Aug. 10 in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii, according to a news release from the Hawaii Police Department. The Hawaii Department of Public Safety confirmed that Clenney was no longer in its custody, KITV reported.

Clenney was enrolled in a substance abuse rehabilitation program in Hawaii, according to her attorney, Frank Prieto.

Authorities said Clenney, whose name on social media to her more than 2 million followers was Courtney Tailor, fatally stabbed Obumseli in the apartment they shared in the luxury One Paraiso condominium building in Miami, WSVN-TV reported.

Police said that Obumseli was unarmed. Clenney claimed she had only thrown the knife from about 10 feet away, the Herald reported. However, investigators stated that Obumseli’s chest wound was simply too deep to have been caused by a blade thrown from the alleged distance.

Prosecutors also played a video of Clenney repeatedly attacking Obumseli in an elevator two months before the killing, WPLG-TV reported.

In a statement, Prieto said the medical examiner “has formulated conclusory opinions that will not stand up to scientific scrutiny,” WTVJ reported. He added that the original arrest warrant “contains deceptive and incomplete statements.”

Prieto called the situation self-defense and said Clenney will be exonerated during a trial.

“Unfortunately, it appears that the prosecutors have taken the easy way out by charging Courtney; effectively placing the decision to clear Courtney of these charges in the hands of the judge and jury,” Prieto said. “We are confident she will be exonerated, and Courtney will be seen for what she is: a victim of domestic abuse that survived her abuser.”

Clenney is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday and has an evidentiary hearing scheduled for Sept. 6, KITV reported.
