ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A Florida man is facing charges after deputies said he picked the wrong time and place to commit a crime.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that a suspect attempted to steal from the Walmart in St. Cloud, but was thwarted upon finding the store filled with officers.
Deputies said the suspect had gone into the store during an annual “Shop With a Cop” event for community children, and that nearly 40 deputies, along with a forensics team, community service team and Sheriff Marcos Lopez were inside the store.
Deputies did not identify the suspect other than by the name Brad, saying, “Bad news, Brad!”
A photo of the suspect shows him in handcuffs. Police said they confiscated bolt cutters and gloves from him as well.
