SENOIA, Ga. — Senoia Police Department is investigating after a woman reported that she was attacked near the downtown area on Sunday night.
She said the incident happened around 10 p.m. while she was on Travis Street. The victim was between Clark and Bridge streets walking when a man grabbed her from behind and attempted to sexually assault her, according to police.

The woman was walking to get some exercise when the incident occurred. She was able to fight her attacker off, according to police.
Channel 2’s Michael Doudna was in Senoia on Monday and spoke to residents who say they feel so safe, they don’t often lock their doors.
“People aren’t normally afraid to walk around or anything down here because it’s not known for crime,” resident Misty Smith said. “It is frightening because we just don’t even think about that here. It’s just not thought of.”
Police say attack happened close to the historic downtown area.
“It’s pretty, pretty brazen, because it was probably about a block away from downtown,” Detective Lt. James McCue said.
“My prayer is that they will find this person and they will be brought to justice,” Smith said.
Senoia police is encouraging its citizens who are out past dark either walking, exercising to have a partner and take reasonable precautions to protect yourself if necessary.
