The Chatham County Police Department said 25-year-old Tiffany Jones operated a “free gas for under-the-table cash scheme.”

The store called the police, who found that between August and October, the store lost more than $20,000 in thefts.
During the investigation, police identified 18 incidents where an employee was paid between $100 and $500, that they took for themselves, then let a customer skip paying for diesel at the pump.
Jones was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony theft by taking. She was booked at the Chatham County detention Center, police said.
