NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — Covington police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Saturday.
Police said officers responded to the area of Puckett Street and Chaney Drive at 2:30 a.m. in reference to a person shot.
They arrived to find Trayvond Bernard Ball, 22, of Covington, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency crews and police treated Ball but he died, police said.
Police said that later, Doylmarrian S. Hardeman, 33, also of Covington, arrived at Piedmont Newton Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a trauma center in Atlanta where he is currently being treated.
Police said Hardeman was not at the scene when they arrived.

The investigation revealed that before the shooting, an estimated 20 people were gathered at the intersection and an argument ensued, leading to the shooting.
Police said Ball and Hardeman are the only two victims they are aware of at this time.
Investigators spoke with several witnesses but said they believe there are more witnesses they would like to speak with.
No one has been charged in the shootings and police said the investigation is ongoing.
