GRIFFIN, Ga. — A city board of commissioners voted to terminate its city manager during a called meeting Tuesday.

The Griffin Board of Commissioners voted 4-3 Tuesday to terminate City Manager Jessica O’Connor, according to city officials.
The vote came after commissioners met behind closed doors in executive session during a called meeting.
Commissioners had gathered Tuesday morning to review a policy compliance report involving the Griffin Police Department. After that discussion, the board entered executive session to discuss personnel matters.
When commissioners returned to open session, they voted to terminate O’Connor’s contract without cause.

O’Connor had served as Griffin’s city manager since April 2021.
The city has not publicly released details explaining the decision.
In the meantime, the assistant city manager of utilities and the assistant city manager of development services will share the responsibilities of the city manager.
Commissioners are expected to meet again at 9 a.m. Thursday to discuss appointing an interim city manager. The temporary arrangement approved Tuesday will expire once that meeting begins.
