MARIETTA, Ga. — Police are investigating a shooting at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta.
Emergency crews were called to the college at about 6 p.m. Tuesday for a reported shooting.
Investigators said the shooting happened between two people in the parking lot behind the Engineering Technology Center on campus.
Marietta police initially had trouble finding the victim because the victim drove themselves to the hospital. The victim was located, but no information has been released on the person's identity or condition.
The school was placed on lockdown for about an hour while police investigated the incident.
"It was tough because we didn't know what was going on nobody told us, so it was kind of scary," student Simone Roberts told Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri.
Investigators still have not located the shooter, who was last seen running away from campus. Police said it is still unclear if the victim and suspect are affiliated with the university.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Southern Polytechnic State University Police Department at 678-915-5555. According to the school's website, classes will continue as scheduled Wednesday.
