Scattered storms with risk of damaging wind gusts

ATLANTA — Stay weather aware if you are heading out Friday night for high school football and other outdoor events.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says there is a risk for scattered severe storms this evening.

The main threat will be damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph that could bring down trees and power lines.

A few storms will linger into late tonight. There’s another chance for storms on Saturday.

Meanwhile in the tropics, Dolly is no longer a tropical storm. It will still bring gusty wind and rain to the northern Caribbean islands late this weekend into next week.
