ATLANTA — More popular foods are being impacted by salmonella.
Georgia grocery stores are pulling products containing jalapeños off the shelves as the recall expanded Sunday.
It is linked to salmonella outbreak that has sickened 345 people across at least 26 states. It now includes not only jalapeños but products that contain them, such as dips, salsas and guacamole.
The only product on the FDA’s recall list sold in Georgia is a spicy roast beef sandwich at Kroger.

The products include a best and if used by date up to and including Aug. 16.
“I wouldn’t buy iceberg lettuce right now, personally. I just bought jalapenos, but I didn’t know they were recalled. I’m gonna wash them super well,” said Patrick Sullivan, a personal chef.
The products are linked to Taylor Farms, which received the jalapenos from a company called “Coast Citrus.” Taylor Farms is the same source of a lettuce recall for earlier this summer for risk of the cyclospora parasite.

Dr. Cherie Drenzek, a state epidemiologist with Georgia Department of Public Health, said that the system is working appropriately in identifying and tracing back where contaminated foods came from and where they were distributed.
One shopper told Channel 2 News that they should not have to second guess what they are buying and whether or nor it’s safe.
