ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves have listed Ronald Acuña Jr. as “day-to-day” after he was injured during Tuesday’s loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
Acuña Jr. fouled a pitch off his left leg in the third inning and immediately went down in pain. Trainers tended to him on the field before he eventually limped off under his own power and walked into the team’s clubhouse. He did not return to the game.

The Braves later announced that Acuña had a left shin contusion, but his X-Rays and CT scan both came back negative.
“His foul balls off the feet and legs are not the same as the average Joe. The ball comes off his bat so hot, so I was concerned at first,” manager Walt Weiss said in his postgame news conference.
Weiss said the team will stay cautious on whether Acuña returns in regular season, but he is confident the outfielder won’t miss time in the playoffs.
The Braves are the NL East champions and still in the hunt for a first-round bye. But it’s most likely they will be the No. 3 seed and host Wild Card Series when playoffs start next week.
