Risk for strong storms with heavy rain, lightning, damaging wind gusts

Severe Threat Thursday

ATLANTA — The chance for showers and storms return on Thursday. Some storms that develop may become strong or severe.

Before those storms arrive, it’ll be a hot day with highs in the mid to upper 90s.

Severe Weather Team 2 is tracking the storms, LIVE on Channel 2 Action News starting at 4:00 p.m.

That storm threat will increase tonight, especially over the mountains, as a cold front approaches. Any storms that develop will produce heavy rain, frequent lightning, and have the potential for damaging wind gusts.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says the overall flood threat is very low. It is possible for a spot or two to have some localized flash flooding.
