COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. — A registered sex offender from south Georgia was sentenced to decades in state prison following convictions in Coffee and Pierce counties.
Charlie Franklin Stevens was put under investigation for violating the terms of his probation, following a child molestation conviction.

He then moved to Coffee County, where as a condition of his release he was required to comply with state laws for those on the registry.
In October 2024, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Stevens when they received a tip he’d been in contact with a minor in the county.

Investigators determined he had not disclosed a second phone number to officials, violating sex offender registry requirements. He was using the unreported phone to communicate with a 12-year-old, according to the sheriff’s office.

Looking at his devices, investigators found computer pornography involving minors and evidence that Stevens enticed a child.
He was arrested at his home and charged with failing to register as a sex offender, possession of computer or electronic pornography and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
He’ll have to serve 60 years in state prison for his convictions in Pierce County and 40 years for his convictions in Coffee County.
