ATLANTA — A man accused of breaking into a northeast Atlanta home was arrested after officers chased him on foot from the scene, according to police.

Atlanta police said officers responded to a reported burglary in progress around midnight on Aug. 21 near the 500 block of Linwood Avenue NE.
When officers arrived, they set up a perimeter around the home and began clearing the home. During the search, officers saw a man exiting through the front door, police said.

Authorities said the suspect ran from officers, leading to a foot chase.
Officers caught and arrested him a short time later.
The suspect was identified as Christopher Pope, 43.
As Pope ran from police, he could be heard on bodycam video saying, “Please, Mr. Officer.”
Pope could also be heard stating, “Someone was threatening him and trying to kill him.”
Police said several items belonging to the homeowner were recovered from the suspect.
Pope was charged with first-degree burglary and obstruction. He was taken to the Fulton County Jail.
