Peachtree City alligator spotted again after 4 years

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — After 4 years, an alligator that caused a stir in Peachtree City is back.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesperson Chris Hyatt told The Citizen that the gator was reported to police on May 13 by someone who was in the brush by the bridge near the Wilshire Pavilion Shopping Center.

It was in 2016 when Channel 2 Action News covered this story about the gator. Back then, a truck driver spotted it near Flat Creek.

The 6-foot gator was lounging on the bank of the creek. The truck driver called police, and a few officers showed up just before the reptile took a swim and went under.

After word got out, people started going out to the scene and trying to take selfies with the alligator.

Police had to post an alert on Facebook, telling folks not to feed the alligator or try to get a picture with it.

The Georgia Department of Natural resources is now working to trap and relocate the gator, the Citizen reports.
