At the Alpharetta Library early voting location just beyond the square, it took Fulton County residents a moment to find parking as a steady stream of voters funneled through the doors.
“I was kind of surprised on the first day to have so many people here, but that’s a great thing,” said voter Terry Whitehouse.
Channel 2 Action News heard from voters who each had different issues drawing them to the polls.
“Gas prices and probably just prices in general because I’m a college student,” said college student Brooke Miller.
“Things regarding our electric water. Those committees have been top of mind, especially with the data center talk,” said voter Peter Lam.
“I’m worried about the taxes,” added voter Natalia Melson.

At Buckhead Library, there was a constant stream of voters. It is one of 32 early voting locations across Fulton County.
Buckhead Library is also one of seven locations countywide, accepting absentee by mail ballots through a drop box during early voting. And while voters have through Oct. 30 to cast their ballots early, many had their reasons for showing up on day one.
“I think it’s just the easiest, most convenient way. And it helps give you a reason to look at the ballots early,” said Lam.
“And there’s some really good candidates in this state that I really do support. The only way I can really make a difference is getting out here and voting,” said voter Howard Hammer.
