Family of late NFL star Demaryius Thomas wants to know who stole from his Roswell estate

ROSWELL, Ga. — The family of NFL star Demaryius Thomas wants to know who stole from the late athlete’s Roswell estate.

The former Georgia Tech and Denver Broncos player died in December.

Last week, police found a large group inside his home, and valuables missing.

At least seven people were there, and three have been arrested for criminal trespassing. One of them is a former deputy.

Police are still actively investigating this as a major theft.

It was Thomas’ mother who saw posts on social media showing people were partying in her son’s home months after his death in December from complications from a previous car crash.

Roswell police responded to the $2 million mansion last Sunday and arrested three men for trespassing.

Officers came back to the home days later after being called by the family.

“They were able to inventory and indicate there were several high-value items missing from the home,” said Tim Lupo from the Roswell Police Department.

Missing items included thousands in cash, guns, high end shoes and clothing, a hyperbaric chamber, football jerseys and other memorabilia. Even Thomas’ ESPY award from 2012, listed as priceless, was reported stolen.

One of the suspects, Vashone Jones, is a former deputy and corrections officer from Macon. He told officers he was Thomas’ caretaker before his death and would still check on the property.

Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach confirmed Jones left the sheriff’s office in Bibb County after an arrest in 2019 for credit card theft and fraud.

“(Jones) indicated he did have some legitimate reason to be at the home. Based on our officer’s investigation, they determined that not to be the case,” Lupo said.

Gehlbach reached out today to Thomas family and his representative, but has yet to hear back.

Besides going over security camera video, investigators are also looking to see if any of the stolen items end up for sale, or turn up somewhere. Anyone who has information is urged to call police.
