ALPHARETTA, Ga. — City Council questioned developers for hours Monday night before hearing public comment on a re-zoning application for the North Point Mall property.
Atlanta-based developer Jamestown LP wants to transform the property into a mixed-use property that includes apartments, a hotel, restaurants, retail, a theater and a hockey complex.
Channel 2’s Courtney Francisco was at the meeting that was going strong well after midnight.

“They put on a pretty good presentation,” said Alpharetta voter Fraser Lynn.
“It’s an option for the league and for an owner to choose Alpharetta,” said Jamestown’s Tim Perry.
As part of the re-zoning application, developers said if an National Hockey League team does not move to the location by Aug. 2031, they will ask council to approve a different idea.
“Where are we it in the process? Are we even at the table with the NHL yet?” asked Councilmember Dougals DeRito.
Developers told council the NHL has expressed interest in Alpharetta, and they are working closely with the league to make sure leaders are familiar with the progress being made at the North Point location.
“It’s still going to take years,” said DeRito.

Some voters in the crowd liked the idea of growth. They argue it will bring young professionals to the area.
Others said the timeline on a project of this size is questionable.
“At this point in time, I came out to get more educated on the subject. I think it’s reasonably positive, but there’s more discussion to be had,” said Lynn.
By 12:30 a.m., council members had not voted on the re-zoning application.
