Diesel has reached a new all-time high nationwide, a fuel savings platform reports.

The national average of $5.85 is a new all-time record, according to Gas Buddy, soaring above the the previous diesel record of of $5.82 per gallon set in June 2022.
According to AAA, the average diesel price in Georgia is $5.64.
The price of diesel influences the U.S. economy because diesel fuel powers freight trucks, trains, agricultural equipment and construction machinery, Gas Buddy said.

Higher transportation costs for goods and services are often passed on to consumers.
“Diesel is the fuel that moves the economy, and when diesel prices reach record levels, the impact extends far beyond the transportation sector,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Higher diesel prices impact consumers as rising supply chain costs increase the price of groceries, household goods, deliveries, and countless other products Americans rely on every day.”
Experts say geopolitical turmoil and supply issues are affecting diesel prices, bringing the price up more than $2 a gallon from a year ago.
To attempt to bring down gas prices, the state of Georgia accepted a federal fuel waiver to switch to a winter blend of gas earlier.
