PORTERDALE, Ga. — Jurors heard testimony from investigators and listened to police interviews Wednesday in the murder trial of a woman accused of killing her friend and burning her body.
Morgan Bauer disappeared in metro Atlanta in 2016. Her case remained unsolved for years.
In 2023, police arrested Alex Warren and Katelyn Goble after Goble came forward and told investigators where they could find Bauer’s remains.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, prosecutors questioned investigators about an interview with Goble following her decision to come forward.
In that interview, Goble gave investigators a detailed description of where Bauer’s body could be found, prosecutors said. Investigators were preparing to bring dogs to the property to search the grounds.

Goble also told investigators she had waited to come forward because she was afraid of Warren.
“I always expected Alex to change his mind … and it costs harm to you … Come after me,” Goble said in the interview. “And then it became an even bigger fear when I had my kids.”
Prosecutors allege Goble lured Bauer to her home in Newton County, where she and Warren strangled the teenager to death. Investigators also testified about inconsistencies in Goble’s statements during the interview.
“The inconsistencies were pointed out and that’s when the story changed ultimately,” an investigator testified.
The case had gone unsolved for seven years before Goble’s decision to speak with investigators led police to Bauer’s remains.
