Metro youth pastor on house arrest after being hit with child molestation charges

A youth pastor in the metro Atlanta area has been charged with child molestation after two men say he committed sex acts with them several years ago, according to Floyd County police.

Christopher Matthew Codding has been the youth pastor at a Bartow County church for 15 years while also being connected to a Blue Ridge youth summer camp and a separate youth ministry for pre-teen and teenage boys, police say. He is also a former foster parent.

Codding was arrested in July on two felony charges of aggravated child molestation after allegations that he sexually assaulted two pre-teens emerged.

At the time of his arrest, Codding was employed as a radiologic technician and instructor at a technical college.

Codding was released in August on a $30,000 bond with conditions that he wear an ankle monitor, have no contact with minors and stay in his home.

Investigators say there may be other victims due to access to children for more than a decade.

They say it is not uncommon for victims of child sexual assault to remain silent until adulthood.
