COVINGTON, Ga. — City of Covington council meeting on Monday has several items to address, but one hot topic is specifically connected to a heated fallout over legislation.
The city council discussed bad behavior and whether members can end up in city court if someone gets out of order during council discussions.

Item number 16 on the agenda:
“Discussion to either raise the mayor and council decorum fee to $250 per offense or leave at $150 per offense for use of profanity or if the presiding officer issues more than one “call to order” directed at the one individual.”
This all started when a heated debate between Mayor Fleeta Baggett and councilman Dwayne Turner. The councilmember ended up swearing under his breath.
A few minutes after leaving, Turner returned saying he had dealt with months of disrespect and was at his last straw.
