Masks no longer required for vaccinated students, staff in University System of Georgia

When students and staff return to University System of Georgia campuses across the state in the fall, masks will be optional for many of them.

The USG has released new guidance for the Fall 2021 semester, stating that fully vaccinated staff and students will not be required to wear a mask while in class or at other activities. Those who have not been vaccinated are strongly encouraged to continue wearing their masks inside.

Fully vaccinated individuals will no longer be required to socially distance, while those who are not vaccinated are still encouraged to do so.

Employees and students with alternate working and education arrangements will also begin their return to campus in July.

Events and travel will be subject to the latest state orders. Athletics will follow the latest guidelines from their respective conference.
