SAVANNAH, Ga. — A man accused of murdering someone on July 4 in Vidalia, Ga. is in custody.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced that Joel Anton-Jamaal Brown, 25 of Savannah, was accused of shooting and killing Rashad Lamar Lumpkin on July 4.
Vidalia police requested the GBI’s assistance after Lumpkin was found in the road at East Jenkins Street around 3:13 a.m. when officers responded to a shots fired call.
On Wednesday, the GBI announced Brown was already in custody in the Chatham County Jail on unrelated charges.
The GBI said Brown was charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and making false statements and writings related to Lumpkin’s death.
