Man found shot to death inside living room at southwest Atlanta home

Atlanta police investigators are still trying to piece together information on a fatal shooting that took place around 3:30 a.m Thursday at a home on Beatie Avenue.

We first reported the shooting as breaking news on Channel 2 Action News this morning.

Residents in the neighborhood told Channel 2 Action News Reporter Christian Jennings that police have been out to the home several times.

Jennings found the reports that verify the claim.

The neighbors told her they are no longer shocked when a crime occurs on the street or if they hear gunshots. This time, the crime cost a young man his life.

“It’s sad and unfortunate that it’s come to something like this,” said Atlanta police Homicide Detective, Lt. Daniel Genson.

Genson said the man was shot several times but he did not know if the man lived in the home.

“Right now we’re in the preliminary stages of the investigation to determine the circumstances behind the shooting,” Genson said.

Once police took down the crime scene tape, Jennings and her photographer moved closer to the house and saw the words “Murder Game” painted onto the middle of the street. They said the image also had three letters and the image of a body outline.

Jennings spoke to a neighbor who did not feel comfortable being identified on camera. She said police were at this same home as recently as August.

“Sadly I’m becoming numb to everything,” the Neighbor said. “There was a raid and they blocked the street off. There was a bout a dozen cop cars, a K9 unit. We never heard what happened with that.”

Atlanta police sent five reports listed in their system of incidents at the house over the past year. Two of them were shootings in May and June of this year. Another report detailed a drug bust in September of 2020 and undercover drug operations earlier this past summe
