GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A person walking his dog found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of a Gwinnett County apartment complex.
The witness told police he heard four gunshots around 2 a.m. before he went to walk his dog near the Forest Vale Apartments. When he came upon the shooting victim, he thought the man may have been drunk. He called police and when officers arrived, they found the victim dead.
"Obviously this time of morning there should be a substantial amount of people who were home and who heard the shots and may have been prompted to look outside and maybe they did see a vehicle or a suspect leaving the scene," said Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Deon Washington.
Police have identified the victim but have not yet notified his family. Officers say he did not live at the apartment complex.
Authorities are continuing to investigate what may have led up to the shooting.
