ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are searching for a suspect, who is accused of opening fire with a rifle on a car with four people inside.

The shooting incident happened around 4 a.m. Monday on Hartford Street in southwest Atlanta.
“It was a semi-automatic rifle. AR-15 type of gunfire, not a handgun. I heard probably 12, 13, 14 shots.’ said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.
The people in the car, escaped without injury. Witnesses reported the gunman went back into a house, but when police searched the home, he was gone.
Swat officers arrived to launch a search for the suspect, blocking off several streets near a middle school.
Although the school opened on schedule, parents had to detour around roadblocks to drop their children off.
For several hours, crime scene investigators combed for evidence, inside and outside of the home.
“I’ll tell you, I’m 84-years-old, and I don’t know the people around here. That’s pretty scary. They shouldn’t do that, but what can I do about it.” said neighbor Carrie Nesby.

Another neighbor, say he spotted the police activity while out on a jog early Monday.
“Really haven’t had anything of this significance in a little while so it was surprising to see something like this pop up again. It’s alarming, like I said, but we know what we’re getting into, living here,” said neighbor Chris Fuga.
Police say they have identified the suspect, but have not located him. He faces several charges of aggravated assault and is wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.
