ATLANTA — Workers at an Atlanta soul food restaurant were met with a gruesome discovery on Monday morning when they found a body hanging through an HVAC vent.
Witnesses told police they saw the man’s head, arms, and torso hanging out of the vent in the kitchen of Walter’s Soul Food Café, over the area where employees fry most of the food.

“All we seen was his head. That’s all. His head and his arms,” a worker told Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes.
Another worker said a female employee saw the man first when she got in for work and started yelling for help.
“She came in and was hollering and screaming and telling me, ‘Rick! Look, look, look,” the cook said. “All you seen was his head.”

Customers showed up at 11 a.m. and found the restaurant doors locked while police worked on the scene.
“I don’t even know how you can get on the roof,” the customer said.
The roof appears easier to reach from next door because the gas station beside the restaurant sits on a hill. Police used a ladder to get onto the roof.

“Yeah, that’s weird to break in. To do what? There’s not even any food made yet,” another person at the scene said.
Police were still working to identify the man.
Family arrived shortly after police left and said they thought the victim was their loved one. They were working with the medical examiner to find out.
