ACWORTH, Ga. — Cobb County police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 7-year-old with autism.
Police said the accident happened on New McEver Road in Acworth around 10:15 p.m. after the child slipped out of her home without her parents noticing.

Investigators say that the child slipped out of the house without her parents knowing.
That’s when they say she was hit by a car driven by 47-year-old David Ngugi. Investigators say Ngugi fled the scene after hitting the girl.
The child was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say that video evidence provided to them helped identify and track down Ngugi.
He is currently being held in the Cobb County Detention Facility on a hit and run charge.
