Investigators identified Ousmane Gassama Diaby, 32, from Arlington, Virginia as the suspect.
Earlier this month, a Troup County Major Nathan Taylor and another investigator from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office flew to Newark, New Jersey and arrested Diaby as he was returning to the U.S. from Ghana.
“We will not tolerate anyone scamming our citizens, businesses, or churches. We will do all we can to investigate these offenses, and, when the perpetrator is identified, we will go to whatever lengths is required to bring them back to Troup County to answer for their crimes,” Taylor said.
