Local trade school helps to cut the HVAC tech shortage, well short

MARIETTA, Ga. — Chattahoochee Technical College expanded its HVAC program will make it one of the largest in the state.

One of Metro Atlanta’s fastest growing trade schools is tackling the nationwide shortage of HVAC technicians.

The school was awarded nearly a million dollars to help pump up the heating and cooling industry.

One of the students, Jamaal Garner, is training for what will be his career.

“I like to use my brain and work with my hands,” Garner told Chanel 2’s Berndt Peterson.

Garner is one of 250 students in program, and said that he is glad he made the cut at the Marietta campus.

Instructor Chris Heenan said that the nationwide shortage is more than 110,000. The school can now answer the call to help fill the tech shortage.
