NEWNAN, Ga. — Leaks in the kitchen were just one of several violations found during a health inspection at a popular chain restaurant in Coweta County.
Channel 2's Carol Sbarge went to the O'Charley's on Bullsboro Road in Newnan to talk to them about the latest inspection.
O'Charley's is a chain with more than 200 restaurants. It started with a single restaurant in Nashville in 1971.
The location in Newnan failed its health inspection on April 24 with a score of 66.
Richard Morris, a regular who goes to that O'Charley's several times a week, was shocked by the score.
"It's an excellent restaurant, really is," Morris said.
Violations include mold on the drop area of the ice machine, leaks at pipes under the dish machine and the washer sink, which were repeat violations, dried food particles on slicers and knives, and an employee using the same tongs on raw and cooked chicken.
The Coweta County health inspector noted plumbers gave estimates to fix the leaks in early March, but the restaurant didn't have the work done. During this latest inspection, the inspector had a plumber called immediately to do the repairs.
The restaurant's previous inspections in March and last August received an "A."
Sbarge went to the restaurant to ask about the big drop in the score.
The manager told her they have addressed the violations, but that we would need to contact someone from company headquarters to get a statement. We are still waiting for a response.
Upon reinspection, O'Charley's received a 99.
