ATLANTA — A gala previously emceed by Channel 2′s Jovita Moore honored our beloved anchor last week as she continues her battle with brain cancer.

This week, Jovita will receive dozens of cards of support written for her by attendees at the Dress for Success EmpowHer fundraising gala Friday night.

In 2019, Jovita hosted the organizations last in-person gala. Last year, she was a vital part of the virtual gala held during the COVID pandemic.

“”Whatever I can do to make someone’s life a little easier or give them a little bit more hope, I’m happy to do it,” Jovita said during the gala’s video stream.

This year, the organization thanked Jovita for her efforts in special ways throughout the evening, including writing her more than 40 cards.

During the scholarship presentation, the executive director of the foundation, Susan Bonds-McCulloch, said, “Jovita, this is for you” as she awarded the recipient the $5,000 scholarship.

The event raised more than $360,000.
