ATLANTA, Ga. — A familiar Midtown photo spot is back.

The iconic oversized “MIDTOWN” letters have returned to Atlanta, this time at Midtown Green, a new four-acre public space on 14th Street.
The letters were installed Monday and are now open to the public as part of the temporary phase of the Midtown Green project.

The colorful letters first appeared outside Colony Square in 2016 and quickly became a popular backdrop for photos and social media posts. They were later removed as Colony Square underwent a major redevelopment.
Now, Midtown Alliance has brought back a new version of the installation as it works toward the long-term vision for Midtown Green.
The new letters were fabricated over the summer by Atlanta production design and custom fabrication studio Arc Design.
Each letter stands 8 feet tall and is 24 inches deep. They are made from plywood with internal wood-frame supports and coated with weather-resistant paint and clearcoat.
The letters sit on the northern edge of the greenspace, facing 14th Street.
The temporary version of Midtown Green is open to the public while Midtown Alliance plans a larger construction phase to transform the space into a long-term public attraction featuring art and activities.
