ATLANTA — After a slightly cooler Wednesday, the mid-summer heat returns for the next couple of days.
The average high for this time of year is 84 degrees. Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says highs will be in the low 90s on Thursday. This will mark our 74th day in the 90s this year in Atlanta.
It’s going to get even hotter on Friday before storms move in over the weekend.

There is also a Code Orange Air Quality alert for all of metro Atlanta Thursday.
The alert is typically issued when the air quality index (AQI) is between 101 to 150. This means the air quality is unhealthy for sensitive groups, who should limit their outdoor activities.
Those affected include people with respiratory issues such as asthma, children and teens, older adults and people who are routinely active outdoors for six or more hours a day.
