Have watery eyes, stuffy nose? Fall allergy season is here

ATLANTA — You may notice your allergies are starting to flare up over the last week. That’s because a fall weed season is here.

The pollen count hit the high range on Monday for the first time since May 1. While the tree pollen is contributing to the count, allergy triggers shift from grass to weeds and mold this time of year.

And that’s why you may have been experiencing watery eyes, sore throat or stuffy nose lately.

Ragweed is one of the main contributors. According to Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, ragweed can not only trigger allergy symptoms, but also asthma as well.

Our fall allergy season typically lasts through those first frosts of the season, which typically isn’t until late October in the mountains or November for metro Atlanta.
