AUSTELL, Ga. — Police are investigating after a man was killing in a shooting at a Norfolk Southern facility in Austell late Monday night.
Officers were called to the facility on Dr. Luke Glenn Garrett Jr. Memorial Highway at 10 p.m. for reports of a person shot.
When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot and lying on the ground in the parking lot. Police say he was taken to Wellstar Cobb Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Norfolk Southern identified the man as a contractor, but did not release his name.
Channel 2’s Darryn Moore was at the facility during Channel 2 Action News This Morning as investigators processed the scene.

There are no details on what led up to the shooting or possible suspects, but police say there is no active threat to the community.
“Our hearts are heavy this morning with the loss of our colleague and we extend our deepest sympathies to their friends and family. This incident is under investigation by Norfolk Southern Police and Cobb County Police,” Norfolk Southern said in a statement to Channel 2 Action News.
