Man chases sister with ax after argument at mother’s house, deputies say

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — An argument between two siblings in Hall County led to a man chasing his sister with an ax.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Nathan Cole Carawan got into an argument with his sister on Friday on Mount Vernon Road.

Deputies said when they got to the home, they learned Carawan had chased his sister with an ax and fired a rifle into the air multiple times while she tried to leave his house.

During the investigation, deputies determined that the brother and sister had been in an argument earlier that day at their mother’s house on Honeysuckle Road.

When the argument got more heated, Carawan left and went to his home on Mount Vernon Road.

Carawan’s sister followed him there a short time later to talk about the argument, and when she got there, Carawan came out with an ax in his hand.

Deputies said as Carawan’s sister tried to back out of the driveway, he chased her, hitting her vehicle several times with the ax and firing a rifle into the air toward her.

HCSO said Carawan’s sister was not injured.

After questioning the 33-year-old, deputies arrested Carawan for charges of aggravated assault under the Georgia Family Violence Act, first degree criminal damage to property and reckless conduct.

He’s being held without bond at the Hall County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.
