SNELLVILLE, Ga. — Two men from out-of-state have pleaded guilty to their roles in a gang-related shooting in Gwinnett County that left one man dead and another seriously injured, prosecutors said.

Salih Ahmad Abdi, 24, and Abdulrahman Munye Haji-Sufi, 24, of Minneapolis, Minn., entered guilty pleas to gang-related charges, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with the January 2022 shooting in Snellville, according to the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office.
The shooting happened on Jan. 7, 2022, near Summit View Court. Police responding to reports of gunfire found 28-year-old Tewodros “Teddy” Haile dead at the scene. A second victim, 36-year-old Fahmi Omer Ahmed, was shot multiple times and survived.
Authorities said witnesses reported seeing two masked men dressed in black leaving the area in a white SUV after the shooting.
Investigators later identified the SUV as a rental vehicle and used Flock camera technology to track its movements. The investigation led authorities to Abdi and Haji-Sufi, who were living in Minneapolis at the time and were both 19 years old when the shooting occurred.

According to prosecutors, Minneapolis police identified the pair as members of the Somalian Outlawz criminal street gang. Investigators said evidence linked them to the Snellville shooting as well as other shootings in Georgia and California.
The two men were arrested in California on Feb. 14, 2022.
Abdi and Haji-Sufi each pleaded guilty to two counts of violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
A judge sentenced Haji-Sufi to 40 years, with 30 years to serve in prison. Abdi received a 40-year sentence with 25 years to serve.
“These young men have thrown away their lives,” Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said in a statement. “And their actions were a danger not only to the victims, but to the entire community where this shooting took place.”
