DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A drug trafficking investigation led to the arrest of a 55-year-old man, according to police.

DeKalb County police pulled a car over on Wednesday near Browns Mill Road and Klondike Road as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.

Police said the driver, Derrick Brown, initially sped away, leading officers on a brief chase before they were able to stop the vehicle and take him into custody.

According to police, a search of the vehicle uncovered two kilograms of cocaine mixed with fentanyl as well as a gun.

Brown was taken to the DeKalb County Jail and faces charges of trafficking cocaine, trafficking fentanyl, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act and fleeing or attempting to elude police.

No injuries were reported.

The DeKalb County Police Department said it remains committed to working with law enforcement partners to disrupt drug trafficking operations and keep dangerous drugs off the streets.

The investigation remains ongoing.
